May figures show that £5.3 billion was spent online by UK shoppers, an increase of 18% compared with the previous year. The IMRG (Interactive Media in Retail Group) Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index revealed that ‘low-ticket’ products, such as clothing and alcohol, were key drivers, with sales in each category increasing by 24% and 25% respectively compared with May 2010.
